Innovation & Governance – Safeguarding Progress with Responsible Leadership

Security as a Strategic Necessity: Safeguarding Innovation, Investment, and Future Competitiveness
Today’s threat landscape demands that startups and investors place security at the core of their strategies. From cyberattacks to insider threats, the risks come fast and from every angle. Yet security isn’t just about prevention—done right, it’s a powerful driver of innovation, competitive edge and long-term growth.

Startups and growth companies with significant potential in innovation and technology face particular vulnerabilities. Early and rapid decisions—regarding markets, suppliers, employees, partners, and investors—carry major consequences for sustainability and competitive advantage. Ultimately, a company’s security posture will determine which markets it can access going forward.

Investors and active owners play a critical role in setting security requirements and conducting risk assessments for the companies they fund or consider funding. A misstep in investing in companies with insufficient security can lead to the leakage of knowledge and technology to adverse actors—resulting in substantial economic, strategic, and national losses.

This panel discussion will explore how security can serve as a competitive advantage rather than a cost. We bring together founders, investors, and executives to address:

  • Why investors bear significant responsibility for mandating security in the companies they invest in.

  • Why security must be an integral part of any growth strategy.

  • How increased security accelerates market positioning and competitive edge for startups and scale-ups.

  • Why enhanced security is crucial for sustainable growth and the very survival of tech companies.

Social Progress – Bridging Gaps, Building Equity
Why is Norway behind on women entrepreneurship and what are we doing about it?
Despite being considered a leader in gender equality, and moderate improvements, Norway still lags behind other Nordic and European countries on female entrepreneurship  and access to capital for female founders. Key factors include lack of female role models, limited access to male-dominated funding networks, societal expectations around family roles that can discourage women from starting businesses etc., despite Norway having strong policies promoting gender equality overall. In this session, we will discuss these and other trends, kill the myth that we lack women tech entrepreneurship talent, show what can be achieved when women/non-binary tech founders are given the right support to flourish and fulfil their potential from our recent 'Oslo as Female Tech Founder Frontrunner' programme - for them and for Norway as a whole; debate what more needs to be done to fix the gender imbalance in tech AND make a big announcement. Come hear more and join the debate.
